Heya, Optimus! Are ya busy at the moment? I kinda need a hand with somethin' - just moving some equipments that're a bit too heavy for me - and I was wonderin' if you could lend a servo?
[There was only the smallest delay while Optimus touched a few spots on his datapad to minimize the firsthand accounts he had been reading of events from long before he'd arrived here, posture unconsciously straightening even though neither Ratchet or anyone else was anywhere nearby his hab suite]
Ratchet. You are not pulling me away from anything that cannot be picked up again. Where are you? I can be on the move soon.
[He didn't say that it was a pleasant surprise to hear from Ratchet, because that simply wasn't something he was accustomed to either saying or hearing about himself]
[Optimus heads off without another word. He hurries just in case, transforming mid step and driving down the long halls in his alt mode. It doesn't take long; he arrives within a few minutes, transforming back into root mode]
I have arrived as requested, Ratchet.
[Probably needless of him to say that, but it was always best to announce your presence during wartime. He sweeps his optics around as he stepped into the hanger bay, not entirely sure what sort of situation he's entered in. He is willing to do quite a lot for Ratchet, however, and moving a stack of heavy boxes is certainly well within the boundaries of that]
[there's nothing of note really happening down in the hangar, just ratchet with three crates of supplies. they're about a quarter of his size, so not extremely big.]
I can't find the damn trolley for them, else this would be way easier. Not somethin' I can just leave layin' around until it does show up, too! Don't worry if ya go rattlin' them, the tools aren't easily breakable. [he puts his hands on his back and straightens up, his strut cracking and popping a few times as evidence of his earlier attempts.] I appreciate the help, there.
[Optimus nodded agreeably enough. He didn't ask what the tools were or any other question, for that matter. Simply walked over and shifted the boxes to a more easily managed configuration, before he lifted all three at once. They somewhat blocked his view, but not unreasonably so. He'd been blinded before on more than one occasion, after all. This hardly compared]
Where are they needed, and is it a higher priority for them to reach that location before you do?
"Medibay and, wh-- no, it's fine, put one of them down, ya ridiculous creature! I'm not gonna be followin' you and tellin' you where to go, sidestep left, vehicon on your right!"
He tuts dramatically, and knocks his knuckles against the side of the middle one.
"This one is the lightest, I'll take that and we can get it all done."
Optimus paused. Something, some half buried impulse, had him make an exaggerated show of considering this with an audible back and forth rumble of his engines. Perhaps simply to amuse Ratchet, perhaps not.
In any case, he said, "If you prefer it that way..." and lowered the boxes carefully to the floor, rearranged them so that he would only carry the two heaviest, and lifted them again. "As my navigator commands."
He seems to pick up on some kind of vibe Optimus is giving off, if the snort-chuckle that escapes him is any indication. Ratchet takes the lighter crate with a huff.
"Dang right. Do you know your way around enough to get to the medibay from here?"
It belatedly occurs to him he could probably ask Optimus to transform and load him up, but-- eh, nice to have a walk. He doesn't really want Optimus to get the impression of being used as a pack mule.
Optimus' finials twitched his satisfaction with Ratchet's response. He might or might not have been tucking that away as a war to make Ratchet laugh as he looked around briefly.
"I could get us most of the way there," he said after a moment's consideration. "After we pass the commissary with the perpetually broken dispenser, I would need assistance."
"Very good!" he says with a smile. "You're learning your way around the ship quickly! Primus knows I got lost about eighty times when I first got here."
He seems happy enough to follow Optimus, chattering along about all sorts of nonsense as they go.
"...I could fix that dispenser, I bet, or send a complaint about it to Megatron. That sounds more fun, actually!"
